Grandfather's Cuvée

A signature blend of Australia created in tribute to my grandfather, Herb Loxton, who sold his grapes to a local winery that made this belnd in the 1970's.The Cabernet Shiraz has been a Loxton Cellars favorite since the first version in 2005. The harvest of ’22 saw 8 days over 100F and 2 days where we saw temperatures of around 115F here at the winery. Those cooling breezes helped mitigate some of the sunburn and damage that we saw here on the hillside opposite Wildwood where we saw almost total loss of our Zinfandel which was sheltered from the sun. This is a wine to enjoy with hearty meals and does work particularly well with steak. The Cabernet gives the wine lots of structure and bright red fruit while the Syrah rounds out the middle palate. A wine to enjoy now with bigger meals or to let it improve in the cellar for the next 10 years or more.
