2020 Harvest Schedule

We will be following strict COVID guidelines set in place by the county of Sonoma and the CDC to ensure the safety of our staff and guests.
September 16th: Rossi Ranch Zinfandel & Shumahi Syrah
Today will start with a delivery of Zinfandel from the historic Rossi Ranch, it is always interesting to look through the bins as there are always clusters that do not look quite the same from this old block where the fruit is field blended. We will also receive a small lot of Syrah from our neighbors at the Shumahi Vineyard here on Dunbar Road, this will be used in our Sonoma Valley Syrah and also to make a small lot for the vineyard owners, founders of Daisy Foundation which supports nurses worldwide, to put their Daisy label on. The grapes will be picked by hand and delivered early in the morning, they will then be destemmed and crushed before being hand shoveled into open top fermentation bins.
September 17th: Estate Syrah (block 4) and Random Ridge Cabernet
Another round of picking on the Estate will be take us into Block 4 which typically is the base of our Estate Syrah. Our small crew will pick 2 tons early in the morning before destemming and crushing the fruit. We will also receive about a ton of Cabernet Sauvignon from Random Ridge Vineyard at the top of Mt Veeder. Small clusters and long rows make this Cab Vineyard tricky to pick, so we will be getting deliveries in small lots throughout the week. The fruit will be sorted, destemmed and crushed before being shoveled into open top fermentation bins. Get front row seat to see what goes into small lot hand crafted wines.
September 18th: Estate Syrah (Block 2) and Random Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon
We will be back in Block 2 to pick out the remainder of the Syrah from the front of the winery where the vines are cane pruned and ripen a bit slower. We will be back at it with a small crew and estimate between 1.5-2 tons. We will also receive more Cabernet Sauvignon from Random Ridge Vineyard at the top of Mt Veeder where crews will pick through the night to have the fruit ready for delivery in the morning. All grapes will be processed on the Crush Pad (destemmed and crushed) before being hand shoveled into open top bins where they will remain until the end of fermentation.
September 22nd: Estate Grenache
This pick will bring in all 12 rows of Grenache from the Estate which will require us to call in all hands-on deck and use our entire 6-person crew. Grenache is the base of our GSP (Grenache, Syrah, Petit Sirah) blend; the 3 varieties will be picked, fermented and start their aging process separately before being blended together early spring 2021. Get a front row seat to the sorting and destemming process and see the amount of care that goes into handcrafted wine.

Watch as grapes are being sorted and crushed, see and smell fermentation which is active right now, and get all your production questions answered! Following the tour we invite you to join us in our picnic area for a seated tasting of our current releases. Tours offered daily at 10:30 thru the end of October, reservation required.
